Positive reward based dog training and behaviour consultations in Kent.

Most behaviours that owners find unacceptable are perfectly normal for dogs. It is important to search for the root cause thinking about what the dog needs and how we can satisfy those needs in an acceptable way rather than just trying to fix the behaviour and suppress their natural instincts.

I can assist you with the following behaviour problems:

  • separation related disorders
  • mouthing
  • attention seeking behaviours
  • destructive chewing
  • indoor toileting
  • resource guarding
  • over excitability
  • barking and lunging at other dogs
  • excessive barking
  • jumping up at visitors
  • fearful behaviours
  • phobias

I accept behaviourals by veterinary referral only. It is important to rule out any underlying medical causes for your dog's behaviour. Please download the form to the right and take it to your vets to be signed.

I work using the EMRA Model which looks at:

  • your dog's emotions at the time of the problem behaviour
  • your dog's overall mood and daily routine
  • what is reinforcing and maintaining the problem behaviour

I will also advise on any training you and your dog need to undertake in order to achieve a positive outcome.

The price of a behavioural consultation is £150. This includes 4 hours worth of my time, plus preperation work, a full written report and treatment plan for you to follow, a report to your vet, and telephone and email support.

Some behavioural issues will require more sessions over a longer period of time. Further sessions will cost £30 an hour.

I am a member of the CAPBT and follow the COAPE Code of Practice. I am also fully insured.

Please note, if you live more than 15 miles away there will be an extra mileage charge.
